professional commitment of those who worked with me. It was
indeed an historical achievement for which I always have
remained beholden particularly to those exceptional jawans
and officers of the force, who laid down their lives in
restoring peace and order thereby turning Karachi once again
into the city of lights. I am confident that the Sindh
Police has the potential to meet the current challenges with
equal ability and commitment. But let me briefly explain
what the current challenge is about. First and foremost, it
is about bridging the long existing gulf between police and
the public. It is about transformation of Sindh Police into
an efficient, effective and accountable public service. It
is about enforcing law without fear and favour. It is about
gaining public trust. It is about acting always as agents of
rule of law.
On this occasion, let me say
that I am fully aware of your problems and poor working
conditions. I assure you that I will do whatever it takes to
bring about a meaningful change in your working environment
and in the terms and conditions of your service. Let there
be no doubt that each one of you will be getting a fair,
just and helpful dispensation at the hands of your seniors.
There will be no favorites. Nor will there be any room for
indiscipline and corruption. Each one of you will be judged
solely on the basis of ability and performance, not
connections or influence. Please join me in making the curse
of Thana culture a thing of the past.
May God bless you all.
